Yates 361 Special Ops Full Body Harness

361 Special Ops Full Body Harness Harness

Designed for use as a Type I full body harness per the requirements set forth in ANSI/ASSE Z359.11-2014. Classified by UL to meet the harness requirements of NFPA 1983 Standard on Fire Service Life Safety Rope and Equipment for Emergency Services 2017 edition; Class III full body harness.

A full body harness and tactical load bearing vest are combined offering a unique product for civilian Special Operations and SWAT personnel. This modular harness and tactical vest combination was originally developed by Survival Inc. as the Joint Services Aircrew Vest and Extraction System™ (JSAVES) for US Air Force helicopter pilots and crew.

NEW RE-DESIGN FOR 2014. The 361 was completely redesigned in late 2014. The original design was not designed by Yates Gear, it was sewn under contract for the Navy as a Helo pilot extraction harness. We always disliked there specific configuration. The redesign follows how we build other full body and seat Yates harnesses. The new design more comfortable, more adjustable and much stronger than the original military contracted JSAVES design. The new design also allowed for the integration of to rappel loops at waist level. This was necessary for Heli rappel operations out of the black hawk helicopters that do not have skids for the operator to stand on. The loops below the waist belt are to attach a gear bag during rappelling, hoisting or short haul operations.

A rear dorsal D ring is provided for helicopter spotter or gunner lanyard attachment. Dorsal D ring is used for SPIE Lanyard attachment (Item # 364). Easily donned by use of quick connect double release action Mil-Spec. COBRA buckles on waist, sternum and leg loops. Full Body Harness Usage and Applications:

D ring located in the rear between the shoulders (dorsal) as well as sternal D ring should be used for all Class III full body applications for general fall arrest protection. Attach only ANSI compliant lanyards to dorsal or sternal D ring. Maximum free fall distance is dictated by type of fall protection lanyard or system utilized. This could be 6 or 12 feet if utilizing energy absorbing lanyards designed for 6 or 12 foot free fall. Ensure complete inspection and verification of fall protection system to meet needed protection. Attachment of ANSI compliant shock absorbing/decelerating device is required at dorsal or sternal attachment point only for all fall arrest applications.
Two D rings (option) located on top of the shoulders should be used for lowering
situations such as in confined space rescue when a long hang time is anticipated. The use of a Y lifting bridle is recommended for use with upper shoulder D ring attachments for lowering in confined space applications.

Maximum capacity of harness is 310 lbs. per ANSI/ASSE Z359.11-2014

Frequently asked questions

What is a tactical vest?

A tactical vest is a heavy-duty garment designed to provide body protection and convenient access to gear and tools for military, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts. These vests often feature multiple pockets and pouches to carry ammunition, radios, flashlights, and other essential equipment. Click here to see our collection of tactical vests.

Are tactical vests bulletproof?

Tactical vests themselves are not inherently bulletproof. However, many are designed to accommodate ballistic plates or inserts that can provide bullet-resistant protection. It's important to distinguish between standard tactical vests and those specifically made to hold armor plates for ballistic protection.

How do I choose the right size tactical vest?

Choosing the right size tactical vest involves measuring your chest and waist and comparing these measurements to the manufacturer's sizing chart. A properly fitted vest should be snug yet comfortable, allowing full range of motion without shifting position. Check out our plate for a guide to plate carrier fitment here.

How do I customize a Tactical Vest?

Check out our guide on our blog on how to customize a tactical vest here.

Can civilians buy tactical vests?

How much does a tactical vest weigh?

The weight of a tactical vest can vary widely depending on its design, material, and whether it includes ballistic protection. A basic unloaded tactical vest might weigh between 1.5 to 3 pounds, while vests equipped with plates and gear can weigh significantly more.

What materials are tactical vests made from?

Tactical vests are commonly made from high-strength, durable materials like nylon, polyester, and Cordura. Ballistic vests incorporate layers of Kevlar, Twaron, or other fibers designed to offer protection against projectiles. Click here to see our collection of tactical vests.

How do I clean and maintain my tactical vest?

Cleaning and maintaining a tactical vest involves removing all gear and plates, gently washing the vest with mild soap and water by hand, and allowing it to air dry. Avoid harsh chemicals and machine washing, as these can degrade the materials.

What are the best tactical vests for airsoft?

The best tactical vests for airsoft are those that offer durability, comfort, and ample storage for airsoft gear. Look for vests with adjustable sizing, breathable materials, and MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) webbing for customization. Check out our stock here.

How do I attach gear to a tactical vest?

Gear is attached to a tactical vest using the MOLLE system, Velcro, or pouches. For MOLLE attachments, weave the straps of the accessory through the webbing on the vest and secure them in place, ensuring a tight and secure fit. Check out our guide on our blog on how to customize a tactical vest here.
