221B Maxx Dri Vest
Status: Not certified. This page does not call the product NIJ certified, and it does not call it tested until a current model-specific test report or Compliant Products List entry is on file.
The Maxx-Dri Vest is a ventilation liner worn between your body and your body armor. It creates a full 360-degree air gap under the armor so heat and sweat can escape, which keeps officers cooler in summer, drier in winter and less fatigued over a long shift. It is not armor itself; it is worn with the armor you already have.
Maxx-Dri Vest 3.0 and 3.0 SL are now available in women’s sizes.
You wear body armor on the job for a reason...for that added security so you can go home to your loved ones at the end of your shift. Wearing body armor is uncomfortable. No matter the season or temperature, body armor does not allow your body/skin to breathe.
The Maxx-Dri Vest creates FULL 360 degree separation (space) between your body and your armor vest, allowing heat and moisture (perspiration) to escape. This keeps you drier and cooler in the heat, warmer and drier in the cold, MORE FOCUSED AND SAFER.
How do I choose a version?
- 3.0 creates 8 mm of space between your body and armor vest, for maximum airflow and cushioning all around. Recommended for external (outer) carriers.
- 3.0 SL creates 6 mm of space between your body and armor vest. It is the slimmer version of 3.0. Recommended for internal (concealable) carriers.

Frequently asked questions
How do I keep cool wearing a bulletproof vest?
Wear a ventilation liner like the Maxx-Dri Vest between your undershirt and your armor. It holds the armor off your body so air can move and sweat can evaporate instead of soaking your shirt and carrier.
Which version fits under a uniform shirt?
Choose the 3.0 SL for concealable armor worn under a uniform shirt; at 6 mm it adds the least bulk. Choose the 3.0 for outer carriers worn over the uniform.
Does the Maxx-Dri Vest change my armor's protection?
No. It is a comfort and ventilation layer, not armor. Your protection comes from the armor panels in your carrier.
Is it available in women’s sizes?
Yes. The Maxx-Dri Vest 3.0 and 3.0 SL are available in women’s sizes.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. Normal wear is not covered.
