effective. Top Cop OC emits a highly irritating pattern of OC when sprayed. Oleoresin Capsicum is designed to target
normal respiratory function and vision in individuals that have been sprayed.

Operational Strength: Most officers are trained with the use of OC Sprays also requires no special equipment.
Operational Limitations: The effects of OC spray tend to vary from individual to individual. It can have an immediate effect or a delayed effect depending on the person sprayed. Subjects may panic and not respond to verbal commands when sprayed and may not be able to comply immediately, this is known as auditory exclusion. Subjects must be decontaminated as soon as possible. Some subjects generally experience high levels of anxiety and their behavior can become more confrontational in the long run. Officers may be contaminated by fellow officers; this can also cause confusion in certain situations.
Documentation Requirements: It is recommended that officers training records be annotated to indicate proper training in use of OC defensive sprays.
