A4 bomb containment pouchManufactured from a kevlar type material called TWARON the function of this bag is to prevent damage from fragments caused by an exploding letterbomb.
The bag will carry an envelope approximately A4 in size and 4 cm (1.5") thick.
The non-opening side of the bag is reinforced with a rubberised laminate to give added protection against blast perforation.
A replaceable cloth, which is vacuum metallised on both sides, gives additional protection against radio interferences.
In tests and incidents it was proven that all fragments caused by the explosion were captured inside the bag and could be handed over to the forensic laboratory for analysis.
For x-raying a suspect letter can remain in the bag. The bag's materials will not seriously dilute the quality of the x-ray image.
