Ballistic Wall Covering
EXPLOSION
After an explosion occurs from a missile or terrorist act, there is a rapid release of energy. Apart from heat and sound there are also shock waves which spread outwards at supersonic velocities, exerting pressures on all surfaces they encounter, causing building walls to collapse and fragmentize and turning the fragments of concrete and brick into lethal projectiles.
It is an established fact that nearly all injuries and fatalities caused by nearby explosions, were from flying fragments.
SOLUTION
A solution to protecting the interior from the blast effect and resultant casualties is to cover the walls and ceiling with the Achidatex "Ballistic Wall Covering", a hybrid composite fabric with unique ballistic properties. This textile technology is based on an exclusive spinning and weaving process developed by Achidatex.
After a blast occurs the applied ballistic wall covering fabric stretches under the impact, distributing the stresses caused and catches and prevents the concrete and brick fragments from penetrating into the building interior.
RETROFIT
* The easiest system to install and maintain
* Does not require special equipment
* Does not require skilled operatives
* Flexibility that follows completely the contour shape of
any existing structure
* Environmentally friendly
* Can be decorated and painted with commercially
available paints
* It is not impervious, it breaths and keeps the atmosphere
within a room in a normal environmental condition.
* It is fire resistance and anti fungus treated

BLAST MITIGATION TESTS
Since the inception and development of the Achidatex Ballistic Wall Covering Fabric which was in answer to the damage and injuries caused by the Scud missiles during the first Gulf War, Achidatex has carried out active explosive blast tests with the sole objective and purpose of improving the effectiveness of containing and catching the wall and ceiling fragments after a nearby explosive blast.
After each of these blast tests the results were carefully analysed by the Achidatex blast experts and textile engineers in order to improve the fabrics' performance and effectiveness in preventing injuries to people within a building. The latest of these blast tests was carried out on August 26th 2007 and the results of this test, in the presence of Israeli Home Front Command experts, demonstrated without doubt the effectiveness of the Achidatex Ballistic Wall Covering in catching and preventing the fragments of walls and ceilings from entering the interior of a building (click on images).
U.S. Patent US 6212840 B1
TEST RESULTS, AUGUST 26TH, 2007
(As shown in images)
TARGET: Brick Wall
CHARGE: 3.5KG (8.82 lbs) TATP/TNT
STAND OFF DISTANCE: 0.40 m (16 inches)
RESULT: The brick wall was destroyed. The Ballistic
Wall Covering Fabric caught and contained
all of the brick wall fragments.

Retrofit blast protection for walls and window frames of a structure - U.S. patent 6212-840-BL
The blast and aftershock that follows a nearby explosion, causes building walls to collapse and fragmentize -turning the fragments of concrete and brick into lethal projectiles, slamming into everything in their path. It is an established fact that nearly all the injuries and fatalities caused by nearby explosions were from flying concrete and brick fragments.
The unique fabric shield stretches under the impact of the blast, distributing the stresses caused, and prevents the concrete and brick fragments from penetrating into the building interior, thus shielding and greatly reducing the amount of injury caused to people within.
